La Zisa (dall’arabo “al-aziz” cioè la “splendente“) è un castello unico nel Mediterraneo. Concentra in sé bellezza e mistero: oltre le mura esterne, rigide e austere, si nasconde un ambiente avvolgente e arioso.
Le due sale principali, dette della fontana e del belvedere, sono impreziosite da mosaici raffiguranti pavoni, colonnine angolari e canali d’acqua. Tutt’ora si percepisce un’atmosfera di relax per il quale fu edificato. Non per nulla questo palazzo e il suo rigoglioso giardino erano stati definiti “il più bel possesso del più splendido dei reami del mondo… Il paradiso terrestre che si apre agli sguardi”.
The Zisa (from Arab “al-aziz”: “The shining castle”) is a unique example in the Mediterranean. Visiting it you’ll find an atmosphere of beauty and mystery: the external and austere walls disclose a warming and airy interior.
The two main rooms, the first called of the fountain and the second called of the “belvedere” (Sightseeing), are precious for their colorful and golden mosaics representing peacocks; small columns decorating the corners and water canals. Still now you can feel the amazing relaxing atmosphere for which it was built. For this reason this castle and its luxuriant garden were defined “The most beautiful possession of the most amazing reign in the world…The heaven on earth revealed to the eyes”
